For 25 years Doug has devoted his practice to helping people with Social Security benefits, criminal charges and other legal issues. He has the experience and understanding to explain and solve your problem. Doug recognizes dealing with the Social Security Administration or court system can be stressful. He has years of experience and can guide you in the process. He knows what issues to emphasize to have the best chance of getting your application approved or your problem solved.

Doug graduated from the University of Cincinnati Law School in 1991.  He spent three years as a contract Public Defender in Hamilton County, Ohio and an associate at Beirne & Wirthlin.  In 1994, he established a private practice in Dearborn County, Indiana and was a Public Defender in the Dearborn County Superior Court from 1994 through 2001.  Since 2001, Doug has continued his private practice focusing on Social Security and Criminal Defense.  He also represents several non-profit organizations, small businesses, and the Dearborn County Solid Waste Management District.  Doug was on the Indiana Public Defender Council Board of Directors from 1996 to 2008 and Chairman from 2006 to 2008.  He taught trial skills for five years at the Indiana Public Defender Trial Practice Institute.  He is on the Board of Directors of Heart House, Inc. and belongs to the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives.

Doug is married and has one daughter. He spends his free time cooking, boating, reading history and science fiction. He has received awards for volunteering legal services and advocating for older clients. Doug looks forward to helping you with your problem.
